     ////vvvvaaaarrrr////qqqqmmmmaaaaiiiillll////ccccoooonnnnttttrrrroooollll////mmmmoooorrrreeeerrrrccccpppptttthhhhoooossssttttssss....ccccddddbbbb  in  a  binary   format
     suited for quick access by qqqqmmmmaaaaiiiillll----ssssmmmmttttppppdddd.

     If there is a  problem  with  ccccoooonnnnttttrrrroooollll////mmmmoooorrrreeeerrrrccccpppptttthhhhoooossssttttssss,  qqqqmmmmaaaaiiiillll----
     nnnneeeewwwwmmmmrrrrhhhh complains and leaves ccccoooonnnnttttrrrroooollll////mmmmoooorrrreeeerrrrccccpppptttthhhhoooossssttttssss....ccccddddbbbb alone.

     updated  atomically,  so  qqqqmmmmaaaaiiiillll----ssssmmmmttttppppdddd  never has to wait for
     qqqqmmmmaaaaiiiillll----nnnneeeewwwwmmmmrrrrhhhh to  finish.   However,  qqqqmmmmaaaaiiiillll----nnnneeeewwwwmmmmrrrrhhhh  makes  no
     attempt  to  protect  against  two  simultaneous  updates of
     ccccoooonnnnttttrrrroooollll////mmmmoooorrrreeeerrrrccccpppptttthhhhoooossssttttssss....ccccddddbbbb.

     The  binary  ccccoooonnnnttttrrrroooollll////mmmmoooorrrreeeerrrrccccpppptttthhhhoooossssttttssss....ccccddddbbbb  format  is  portable
     across machines.
